Well, here it is. This is my first blog post, and to be honest, I really have NO idea where this is going.
I guess that this will just be a place for me to share my random thoughts. Most of the things that I will
be writing, might not even make sense to most people, but I guess that's alright!
Recently, there have been a few things on my mind. One that has been most prominent, though, came about while I stumbled upon this quote:
“Words can break someone into a million pieces, but they can also put them back together. I hope you use yours for good, because the only words you'll regret more than the ones left unsaid are the ones you use to intentionally hurt someone.”
― Taylor Swift
Yeah, yeah, I know, its from Taylor Swift, queue the haters now.... But whatever, its still a very valid quote.
When I read this quote, a few things came to mind. The first being, huh.... It is actually very funny how one word or phrase can change someone's entire viewpoint on something, and even change their life.
Think about it. Telling someone "I've cheated on you" or "You are ugly".... Even a simple look could be someone's breaking point.
Another thing that came to my mind, that is loosely related, is how words can change our life for the better.
Think about when you get that letter from the college you've been waiting on that says accepted. What about the phone call from the doctor saying that you are, indeed, pregnant with a little girl? What about those two simple words, coming from someone that you love, while they are knealing down on one knee? I do not have experience with either of these things, seeing as I am still quite young, but I can imagine that these are life-changing events, and they are memories that you will always remember.
Unfortunately, there is a second part to this quote, just like there is always bad news following the good.
In the quote, she states: "The only words you'll regret more than the ones left unsaid are the ones you use to intentionally hurt someone."
Maybe you made a remark about someone's hair, thinking it would be funny, and not realizing that it was the one thing that made that person insecure, the one thing that bothered them the most?
Alright, well, I'm rambling.... just a thought to get whoever is kind enough to read this thinking.
